The inscription was found by Messerschmidt in 1721 and then rediscovered by Klementz in 1886 on the left bank of the river Uibat about one kilometre away from the influx of the river Beika (Bei). The stone was transported to the Minusinsk Martyanov Museum and catalogued under No. 8. It measures 2.8 metres high, with a width of 25 centimetres and a bottom depth of 60 centimetres. According to Кормушин (2008, 128) there might have been a tamga on the stone, but it is no longer visible. A 3D model of the stone is available in the database of the RSSDA Laboratory under the number VE0840.

Comments

  1. According to Кормушин (1997, 109) there is a ninety centimetre long gap in this line.
  2. The runiform letters ⟨YITA⟩ are read as ayït a, that is the second person imperative of the verb ayït- 'to say' with interjection.
