The inscription was found by Castrén in 1847 on the northern side of kurgan No. 1 at the Chaa tas ('war stone') of Uibat, a cemetery complex with 16 stone mounds and numerous stelae. The monument seems to be in its original location. It exhibits two signs, but the glyphs cannot be reconstructed on the basis of the available data.
